UCPN (Maoist) central committee meeting begins

Kathmandu, March 19: The UCPN (Maoist) in-charges from all the seven provinces reported to the party's central committee meeting that started at the party central office at Parisdanda today.
In their reporting, the party's province in-charges and secretaries spoke on the party's latest status, the role it has played, the working style of the ministers representing the party in the government and the policy to be adopted in the coming days.
Party spokesman Dinanath Sharma said Suresh Rai, Bishwanath Saha, Lilamani Pokharel, Dilaram Acahrya, Jog Prasad Sharma, Janardan Sharma, Khaga Raj Bhatta and Lokendra Bista presented reports of their respective provinces in today's meeting.
According to Sharma, they said that the working style of the ministers representing the party in the government was not pro-people and they have not been able to play a significant role in building up the party. They also said that the ministers have not been able to carry out work that gave a semblance of change.
They also stated that no initiatives have been taken by the party to take it to the people's level, that there is negligence in carrying out people's works and that a culture of change and sacrifice was not to be seen in the leaders.
Spokesman Sharma informed that the meeting was of the view the social goodwill that had been battered after the Kailali incident has not yet recovered and that there was widespread public grievance over the government's works at the local level.
The leaders speking in today's meeting also called for making the party effective and to forward the unification process underway with the Maoist factions in the context of Dr Baburam Bhattarai quitting the party and making preparations for forming a party under the banner of New Force. The next meeting will take place at 11 am on Sunday.
