Kathmandu, March 19: Minister for General Administration Rekha Sharma has stressed on the need of equal participation of women in every state apparatus on the basis of population.
She expressed this view while speaking in an interaction titled 'Women's Participation in Nation Building' organised here today by the Rastriya Nagarik Bikas Samaj on the occasion of the 106th International Women's Day.
The General Administration Minister suggested ensuring women participation from the local level itself for their decent participation in the executive posts and at the decision making level.
Stating that even though a women-friendly constitution has been promulgated, its implementation was challenging, she said the women, dalits, Madhesis and backward communities should be more proactive in the implementation of the national charter.
Minister of State for Federal Affairs and Local Development Kunti Kumari Shahi said the need of the hour is to take the country towards the path of social and economic revolution with the effective implementation of the constitution.
At the programme, bags and stationery materials were distributed to 50 children coming from the earthquake affected families. Women who are actively contributing to different sectors of society were also feted on the occasion.
